Our approach is always pragmatic and non directive.
The coach listens, probes, helps the client explore alternative strategies and ways of thinking. It's a process founded on mutual trust and understanding. And it can be magic. Clients are inspired, motivated, challenged as necessary, and generally encouraged to 'push the envelope'.
Our approach is broad, too. With the permission of the client, we interview his or her boss, peers and reports. In some circumstances they may even be asked to be help provide ongoing feedback as the programme unfolds. In this way, all can become involved. The coaching then becomes fuller, rounder, more effective still.
The Pitkeathley approach of involving my boss,
my peers and the people I am responsible for,
gave me a valuable insight.
